July News 2025
Jul 10, 2025
As the chill of winter wraps around the Barossa and the Cellar Door fireplace crackles to life every day, we’re leaning into what we love most: bold reds.
Shiraz Day this year falls on Friday the 25th of July, you can be sure we’ll be raising a glass (or two?!) to the varietal that started it all back in 1999.
Enjoy the news from all departments in this July Newsletter!
IN THE VINEYARD
It’s currently a brisk 10°C (but feels like 2!) here in Marananga, winter rain has finally made a welcome return. Our vineyard team is almost ready to kick off winter pruning once Viticulturist Peter returns from a long-awaited holiday break.
In the meantime, Lara and Alex have been getting their hands dirty planting 150+ new trees and native flora in the block behind Cellar Door. These additions will help enhance biodiversity and support our long-term sustainability goals.
We’re also thrilled to welcome from Holy Grail Vineyard to Marananga Cleo (of Single Vineyard Cleo's Block fame) and Clementine, two of our beloved Scottish Highland cows. Over the coming months, we’ll be building a new deck and nature trail that will overlook their paddock, giving visitors a front-row seat to enjoy our shaggy girls and stunning views of the Seppeltsfield Road palms. Everything should be ready for you to go on a walk to visit them by Summer, stay tuned!
IN THE WINERY
It’s bottling season! The hum of activity continues in the winery, as new vintages are secured in bottle and readied for release.
Richard and Jett are meticulous when it comes to monitoring our wines in oak, checking every single barrel each month without fail. Alongside regular tastings, they carry out detailed lab analysis (w/ Jett pictured below) to track how each wine is evolving. This hands-on approach allows them to fine-tune as needed and plays a key role in maintaining the wine’s vibrancy, freshness, and overall quality.
But the biggest winery buzz this month? Quinn and Ollie, Richard’s Springer Spaniels welcomed a litter of eight puppies! 2 girls and 6 boys! It’s cuteness overload. Follow them on Instagram here!

IN CELLAR DOOR
WESTERN RANGERS
The 'Western Rangers' is the collaboration of Hentley Farm, Kalleske, Seppeltsfield and Two Hands.
In 2020 we made a wine together, a blend of the best Shiraz from each winery. Two Hand's Ares - Hentley Farm's Clos Otto - Kalleske's Johann and Seppeltsfield's The Westing. This wine is valued at $150 and cannot be purchased anywhere. The only way to secure the wine is by obtaining a stamp at each Cellar Door!
Planning a trip to the Barossa?
Make sure to explore the Western Ranges and visit all four collaborating wineries. If you’re returning to our cellar door, don’t forget to grab a map and collect a stamp.
We’ve just launched a brand new tasting flight showcasing wines exclusively from the Western Barossa, $25pp and available to book online now.
WINE CLUB
2025 DISCOVERY DOZEN
Our 2025 Discovery Dozen is here! It’s one of the most anticipated wine club packs of the year. With our brand-new website now live, we’re making club management easier than ever. Your wine club info will soon be added directly into your online profile so you can edit your preferences, update card details, and manage deliveries in just a few clicks.
EVENTS
PERTH
Perth friends, we’re coming your way! Catch Luke and Vanessa for our 25th Anniversary Dinner at The Heritage on Thursday 17th July.
Then, from 18–20th July, we’ll be pouring at the Perth Good Food & Wine Show. Come say hello or try something new!
Kevin joined Two Hands in July 2016. New to the wine industry but heavily experienced in accounting, Kevin came from the engineering and recruitment accounting fields. He wanted to further challenge himself whilst becoming involved in the lifestyle of the Barossa Valley. Kevin prides himself on his sense of humour and always brings a laugh to the workplace.
Now, after nine years with Two Hands, Kevin is set to retire this month and hit the road with his partner Liz, caravanning around Australia. It’s been a rough year for him with being a tragic Carlton supporter, so a reprieve in having to meet the eye of the rest of the office every Monday morning will be a huge relief no doubt! The team will also (thankfully) be spared the annual horror of his hideous Christmas-themed button-up shirts that somehow made their way into our end of year staff party tradition!!
Kevin’s long-standing contribution as Chief Fire Warden and First Aid Officer will be sorely missed, but the finance team is in safe hands. Julie, our fabulous Finance Officer and Wine Club Ambassador, will take the reins, supported by CFO Anthony and our newest team member, Jo.
Kevin's last day with the team is the 31st of July, where we will send him off in style with a big team lunch celebration.
