A Golden Start for the 2025 Gnarly Dudes

The 2025 Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley Shiraz has officially landed, and the new vintage is already making its mark, taking home a Gold Medal and 95 points at the 2026 Barossa Wine Show.

This year marked a special milestone for one of Australia’s most respected regional wine shows, celebrating its 50th anniversary and five decades of showcasing the wines and people of the Barossa.

Entered in Class 10 – Dry Shiraz, Vintage 2025, Gnarly Dudes received 95 points, the second-highest score in the class, a fantastic result for a wine that has long been one of the most recognisable members of the Two Hands stable.

Named in honour of the old, gnarly vines dotted around the Barossa, and, of course, The Dude himself from The Big Lebowski. Gnarly Dudes has always been our take on classic Barossa Shiraz.

The 2025 Shiraz class was judged by Sarah Crowe, Sophie Otton, Brock Harrison, Belinda van Eyssen and Peggy Shiau, who described it as a particularly strong field with a high medal strike rate. Across the class, the judges noted the concentration of fruit from the warmer season, while highlighting the importance of careful extraction, freshness and balance.

For 2025 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz, the judges noted: “Purple-blue hues. Attractive savoury, briary black fruit on nose and palate. Good fruit depth and balance.” They also highlighted savoury spice and red fruit, with drying structure through the mid-palate and oak tannin carrying through the finish.

To emerge with 95 points and the second-highest score in its class among such a strong field is a result we’re incredibly proud of, and a fitting way to welcome the new vintage.
