Inspired by the myths of ancient Greece the Flagship Series is headed by our Ares Shiraz. Aphrodite was the true love of Ares, and their love story is one of the greatest of all time.
Named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, passion and beauty, reflecting the style of Cabernet we like most. Refined balance, expressive character, and an irresistible smoothness, Cabernet that lingers with poise and depth.
Aphrodite is crafted from the finest barrels selected through a rigorous classification process. Six months post-vintage, Chief Winemaker Richard Langford assesses barrels from top vineyard parcels, grading them meticulously. Only those achieving an A+ grade are deemed worthy of the Flagship Series. The three classified barrels of Cabernet were aged for 18 months in 50% brand new French oak hogsheads.

Aphrodite | Perfect Pairings
Aphrodite is a full-bodied red making it ideal for equally robust dishes. Classic red meats like grilled ribeye steak, slow-cooked lamb shank with rosemary and garlic, or a decadent beef Wellington pair beautifully, as their richness and char match the wine’s intensity. Game meats such as venison with a blackberry reduction or duck breast with a cherry glaze complement the wine's fruit-forward profile. For vegetarians, earthy, umami-rich dishes like truffle mushroom risotto, eggplant parmesan, or a lentil and walnut loaf with red wine sauce offer satisfying depth. Aged cheeses such as cheddar, Comté, or Manchego also pair well, enhancing the wine’s structure without overwhelming it.

There is nothing quite like the appreciation of opening a treasured gem that has been ageing gracefully in your cellar and savouring the development of the aromas and palate over the months and years. We make the effort each vintage to carefully store a small quantity of each wine we produce.
In 2015 and 2016 we bottled a very limited number of 6L Imperial's of Aphrodite. Contact the team to add one of these rare editions to your cellar.
