AEROPE

Barossa Valley/McLaren Vale Grenache

A wine at the zenith of Two Hands production that embodies our finest selection of Grenache.

Inspired by the myths of ancient Greece, Aerope a Cretian princess was the mother of Agamemnon and Menelaus of Trojan War fame. Like her story, this Grenache is rich, layered and expressive. With Grenache having its own famous Barossa history.

Brought over from Spain to Australia in the mid 1800's, Grenache thrived in the warm, dry Mediterranean climate of the Barossa & McLaren Vale. The regions are home to some of the oldest Grenache plantings anywhere in the world. Today, Grenache is celebrated as one of the regions' key varietals for its ability to express terroir, vibrant fruit and spicy aromatics.

Scores & Reviews

"Delivering great drinkability and quite serious complexity. It is a rich and decadent style of grenache with mouthfilling cherry compote, raspberry, spice and dried herb fruits plus plenty of oak in support. The fruit is then bright and fresh – more red berry fruits but now also lifted by some baked earth and tobacco complexity. There is impressive power but also balance with manicured tannins which support an extremely long finish. It’s a traditional style of Australian grenache done well with wide appeal, particularly with roast suckling pig."

Aerope | Perfect Pairings

Aerope Grenache is a rich, elegant wine with vibrant red fruit, spice, and earthy undertones, making it highly versatile for food pairings. It pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, duck breast, pork tenderloin, and spicy sausages, all of which complement the wine’s fruit-forward profile and fine tannins. For cheese lovers, options like Manchego and aged Gouda offer nutty, earthy flavours that enhance the wine’s complexity. Vegetarian dishes such as roasted root vegetables with thyme, grilled portobello mushrooms, and classic ratatouille match the wine’s depth and herbal notes.
