ANTEROS

Barossa Valley Mataro

A wine at the zenith of Two Hands production that embodies our finest selection of Mataro.

Anteros was the son of Ares and Aphrodite, brother to Eros. Our Anteros Mataro embodies the principles of balance and depth. Just as Anteros represents the equilibrium of love, the Anteros Mataro embodies a harmonious blend of power and elegance, fruit and structure, and intensity and finesse.

The 2019 vintage of Anteros Mataro marks only the second release of this wine, the first being in 2008.

Anteros is crafted from the finest barrels selected through a rigorous classification process. Six months post-vintage, Chief Winemaker Richard Langford assesses barrels from top vineyard parcels, grading them meticulously. Only those achieving an A+ grade are deemed worthy of the Flagship Series.

Anteros | Perfect Pairings

Anteros is a rich and full-bodied with deep flavours of dark berries, cherry, dark chocolate, and subtle notes of herbs and anise. Its firm tannins and mineral finish make it an excellent match for a variety of bold and savory dishes. Ideal pairings include grilled or barbecued steak and game meats like venison. Poultry dishes such as duck breast or roasted chicken also pair well, playing off the wine's fruit and herbal nuances. For cheese lovers, hard cheeses like aged cheddar are excellent choices, enhancing the wine's richness and complexity.
