SAMANTHA'S GARDEN

Clare Valley Shiraz

By visiting this page, we hope that you are either enjoying our Samantha’s Garden Clare Valley Shiraz or would like to find out more about it.

The Clare Valley wine region is located in South Australia, about 90 minutes north of Adelaide. It is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, dating back to the 1840s, and is known for producing some of the country’s finest Rieslings.

The Clare Valley also produces world-class reds, including Shiraz and Cabernet. Other varietals include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Semillon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Tempranillo and Malbec. Winemakers have developed a distinct regional approach, fostered by a Mediterranean-style climate and alluvial soils. The region is characterised by its gently rolling hills, and its climate is ideal for grape growing, with warm, dry summers and cool nights. The combination of warm days and cool nights helps the grapes to develop intense flavors and aromas, while retaining good acidity.

Made since 2003 Samantha’s Garden is a Two Hands favourite. Produced from the fruit of up to two distinct sub-regions with vastly different soil profiles. The elevation of these sites give the wine a more natural acidity and provide a natural lively fine-bone profile. An elegant style of Shiraz that is typical of the Clare Valley region, characterised by bright lively aromas, subtle fruit flavours and fine grained tannins.

Between Adelaide and the Clare Valley the landscape is sea of golden yellow wheat fields, an obvious choice for this label’s colour.

Scores & Reviews

“The Samantha’s Garden represents a snapshot of Clare Valley shiraz in the regional context of their Garden Series of wines. It’s a pretty-smelling little thing. Blackberry and satsuma plum fruit for sure, but there’s a violet sheen to its aromas and a meaty facet that draws the drinker in. The fruit weight is impressive, as is the wine’s detail and tannin profile, muscling up on the finish with compact tannin heft.” – 94 points
