BELLA'S GARDEN

Barossa Valley Shiraz

Two Hands Wines source premium fruit from six of the finest Shiraz growing regions in Australia, including Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and Heathcote, Victoria, from which we produce the Garden Series of wines. The Garden Series aims to showcase the distinguishing characteristics of Shiraz, Australia’s most well-known and widely planted grape variety, when grown in different, premium wine regions. Each region produces fruit with hallmark flavours representative of where they are grown and the unique climatic conditions and soil types.

Bella’s Garden is a blend of our finest Shiraz barrels from across the region. The Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, with existing plantings of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre vines that are over 125 years old. Two Hands has produced this wine since the first vintage in 2000 and it has become a favourite among many of our followers and Shiraz lovers everywhere.

The fruit for this wine is predominately sourced from vineyards in the Barossa’s western ranges, encompassing the Greenock/Seppeltsfield/Marananga area of the region. The soil profile, made up of red-brown earth over schist, on this side of the valley creates masculine tannins and richness through the palate. Lower yielding, small bunches provide a large fruit concentration. For more information on the unique soil profiles of the various sub-regions within the Barossa visit The Barossa Grounds website.

Bella’s Garden label colour reflects the red soils of the Barossa’s western ranges where all the Two Hands estate vineyards & cellar door are located.

The Region & Vineyards

SOIL | Predominantly rich red/brown clay.

VINE AGE | 16-40 years

ELEVATION | 200-320m

AVERAGE RAINFALL | 450-500mm

SUB-REGIONS | Greenock, Marananga, Moppa Hills, Seppeltsfield & Stockwell.

VINIFICATION | Fermented in five to ten tonne open top fermenters, with regular pump overs (2 times daily) to control ferment, extract colour, flavour and tannins. Average time ‘on skins’ was 7-10 days before being pressed to tank, free run and pressings combined. The wine was then racked to barrel, where malolactic fermentation took place. Bella’s Garden was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

2022 Scores & Reviews

“The Bella’s Garden has always been about fruit density for me…Plush and pure with fine, sandy tannins and a crème de cassis-like unctuousness to the finale. It’s consistently a cracking wine.”
– Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion - 95 points

“Full bodied and rich in the mouth with lashings of supple tannins and very long persistence. Trace of pleasant bitterness in the follow-through. A biggie that will age long-term.”

– Huon Hooke, The Real Review, - 95 points
