Two Hands A Day Late, A Buck Short Fortified Muscat is one of two fortified Muscats crafted by Two Hands Wines. Made from White Frontignac, also known as Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, this non-vintage fortified wine brings together 15 to 20 year old material from selected aged barrels produced at Two Hands over recent years.

Rich, smooth and complex, A Day Late, A Buck Short offers all the depth and generosity expected from a premium Australian fortified Muscat. Layers of raisin, toffee, caramel, fig, dried fruit and warm spice are balanced by refreshing acidity, creating a wine that is luscious without feeling heavy.

This beautifully matured fortified wine is ideal served slightly chilled after dinner, alongside dark chocolate, fruit-based desserts, cheese or simply enjoyed on its own. A Day Late, A Buck Short is a decadent Two Hands Muscat with richness, balance and lasting character in every single glass.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Golden brown with some green hues.

AROMA | Lifted fresh raisins with fruit cake, cardamon spice and sugared figs.

PALATE | Mouthfuls of fresh dried fruit offer a texture that’s both soft and remarkably viscous, coating the palate with an intense yet silky smooth sensation. The depth of rich caramel and rancio notes weave through layers of sweetness, acid, and fine tannins. The high quality spirit delivers a wonderful, reassuring warmth, balancing alcohol, acid, and sugars perfectly. Flavours of raisins, orange peel, and Christmas pudding further enrich the experience, making each sip concentrated and satisfying.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | Every year the fruit from the Brown and White Muscat (frontignac) blocks is left to hang through the course of the growing season to slowly allow the flavours to concentrate and sugar to rise. When the fruit is picked the sugar level is roughly 30-32 baume with wonderful rich flavours. The fruit is processed and fortified with high quality neutral spirit and then matured in old oak. Over time as the ‘angels’ share’ is taken from the barrels, the flavours and sugar concentrate over time even further. Prior to bottling, the parcels that give an average age of over 20 years are carefully blended resulting in a wine of great complexity and length. After patiently waiting, for many years, the richness and complexity is second to none.
