Two Hands Angel’s Share Shiraz is a gorgeous, silky and richly flavoured McLaren Vale Shiraz, appealing to angels and mortals alike since the first vintage in 2000. This much-loved wine showcases the generous fruit, plush texture and smooth tannin profile that have made McLaren Vale Shiraz one of Australia’s most celebrated red wine styles.

The name Angel’s Share refers to the small amount of wine that naturally evaporates from oak barrels during maturation. It is a poetic nod to the idea that angels are taking their share as the wine quietly develops depth, complexity and character in barrel.

In the glass, Angel’s Share Shiraz delivers ripe dark fruits, plum, mulberry, subtle spice, vanilla and savoury oak detail. Rich yet balanced, with a silky mouthfeel and long, satisfying finish, this Australian Shiraz is perfect with barbecue meats, slow-cooked lamb, roasted vegetables or a cosy night by the fire.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | 2025 Angels’ Share flows from the bottle with colours of magenta to black.

AROMA | Interesting aromas of dried herbs, fresh mint, clove, coffee, chocolate and sauteed plums.

PALATE | The wine opens with an explosion of rich, powerful fruit that tantalises the palate. This initial burst releases a wave of juicy flavors and elongated fruit notes, gradually balanced by broad tannins. It’s remarkably easy to drink, making a bold statement before delivering a full-bodied experience. The creamy fruitiness enhances the succulent mouthfeel, while the tannins bring a delightful brightness to the smooth finish. This wine promises plenty of immediate enjoyment and has the potential to age gracefully under optimal conditions.

The Growing Season

The 2025 growing season in McLaren Vale was shaped by a combination of climatic extremes that ultimately produced wines of remarkable concentration and structure. Above-average rainfall throughout October and November replenished soil moisture profiles and established healthy canopies heading into summer. December and January were hotter and drier than average, accelerating vine development through veraison and into ripening, resulting in one of the earliest and fastest harvests on record. Across the region, yields were generally down 10–20% as a result of the season’s environmental challenges. The resulting wines display exceptional depth of fruit, concentration and persistence, with powerful palates, structured tannins and impressive length. The wines of 2025 are expected to reward extended cellaring, with an additional three to five years of ageing potential beyond typical expectations.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | The fruit was crushed into and fermented in 5, 7 and 10 tonne open fermenters. During the peak of fermentation the batches received regular pump overs 2-3 times daily. The average time on skins was 15 days.

MATURATION | Maturation occurred in 12% new French oak hogsheads for 14 months, the balance in 1 to 8 year old. After maturation the final blend was lightly fined and unfiltered prior to bottling.
