Two Hands Harriet’s Garden Shiraz is an elegant Adelaide Hills Shiraz, blended from premium parcels sourced from a vineyard near Hope Forest. Part of the much-loved Garden Series, Harriet’s Garden captures the cool-climate fragrance, fine tannin and graceful structure that make Adelaide Hills Shiraz so distinctive.

This wine is defined by elegance, aromatic complexity and slow-ripened fruit, grown in one of the coolest parts of South Australia as weather rolls in from the Southern Ocean. As one of the latest blocks to arrive at the winery each vintage, this site is harvested late, allowing ripeness, flavour and tannin to develop slowly and evenly.

In the glass, Harriet’s Garden offers lifted red fruits, florals, spice and savoury detail, with a refined palate and unique tannin structure. This expressive Adelaide Hills Shiraz is beautifully balanced, finely textured and full of regional character, crafted with the Two Hands quality without compromise approach.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Deep red with a purple hue.

AROMA | Notes of tea, potpourri, dark cherry, lavender, fresh cut flower, cranberry, pomegranate, white pepper, cinnamon.

PALATE | The fruits are delightfully soft on the palate, balanced by a core of mouth-watering acidity. This wine presents a leaner profile compared to much of the Two Hands portfolio, creating an intriguing energy and vibrancy. A burst of sour cherries emerges on the finish, making for an enjoyable experience. It stands apart from our other Shiraz, inviting you to truly appreciate its unique character. The tannins are wonderfully rounded, leaving a lingering impression of sweet fruit complemented by refreshing sour notes that keep you engaged. In all this is a really interesting wine that shows exactly what can be achieved with Shiraz vines from a very cool climate vineyard.
It’s drinking beautifully right now, and will shine even more during its early aging period. With so much complexity already, you won’t be able to resist reaching for a bottle from the cellar in the first few years—it’s irresistibly lip-smacking!

The Growing Season

After our second La Niña year in a row, the vineyards received an above average winter rainfall, we then progressed into a very mild spring and an equally mild summer with only one day recorded over 40°C. Due to slightly later flowering, the vines were set up to mature at a slower than usual pace, this put the start of vintage back around 3 weeks on average, these mild ripening conditions allowed for slower than usual favour development, this matched with lower yield across the board has resulted in another quality harvest.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | Fermented in a five tonne open top fermenter, with regular pump overs (twice daily over entire ferment) to control ferment, extract colour, flavour and tannins.

Average time ‘on skins’ was 10 days before the fermented juice was drained to tank and the pressings combined. The wine was then racked to barrel, where malolactic fermentation took place.
Harriet’s Garden was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

MATURATION | Aged for 16 months in 2-4 year old French oak hogsheads, with up to 20% new French oak.
