Trusty Rusty Rosé is extremely pale in colour, however in flavour is bright and energetic. Wait for the sun to come out and then rip the lid. It’s delicious.

Simply down to a love for a really good rosé, but not liking or enjoying the sweeter bubblegum pink commercial styles, our ‘Trusty’ has a pretty orange toned ‘Rust’ hue and showcases the dryer style that we like and believe in.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Light rose water.

AROMA | A pretty bouquet greets you from the glass, offering aromas reminiscent of a florist's shop with vibrant notes of rose petals, mint, dried herbs, fresh cut flowers and orange rind.

PALATE | The wine is soft, round and fruity, generously revealing the same aromatic qualitites. The flavour profile is rich and smooth, with floral, rose petals and turkish delight and a clean, crisp dry finish.

The Growing Season

The 2024 vintage was marked by deceptively slow ripening in the Barossa Valley, driven by an unusually cool, dry, and mild growing season. With only three 40°C days across the entire season and consistent cool nights, ripening was slow but balanced conditions that suited Grenache exceptionally well.

Despite early frosts in mid-September that coincided with budburst and impacted some vineyards, Grenache flowered later during a warm window in late November. This timely flowering was crucial in setting up a healthy crop for Barossa Grenache. The growing season saw only 176mm of rainfall, significantly below average, contributing to lower yields but concentrating flavours. A brief warm spell in early March, where night temperatures stayed above 27°C for five consecutive days, caused a notable 30% reduction in berry weight just before harvest. While this lowered volume further, it also enhanced flavour intensity and skin-to-juice ratios.

Picking for our Trusty Rusty Rosé Grenache began early in March, with later parcels including key lots for our flagship Grenache Aerope coming off through late March to April 29. This long window allowed for precision picking, capturing optimal ripeness and structure.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | The fruit was picked in the first week of March, crushed and pressed lightly. We cold settled the juice for 24hrs before beginning to rack off lees and then inoculation. A Cool and slow fermentation period followed where the wine was closely monitored to ensure just the right level of dryness resulted. It was then fined and filtered before bottling.

MATURATION | 3 months in stainless steel, retaining its fresh and bright fruit characteristics. The wine was bottled in July 2024.
