2019 My Hands Shiraz is an ultra-premium Barossa Valley Shiraz from Two Hands Wines, produced only in exceptional vintages and in extremely limited quantities.

Sourced from our estate-owned Holy Grail Vineyard in Seppeltsfield, Barossa Valley, the fruit was hand-picked on 4 March 2019. Following vintage, our finest parcels were assessed barrel by barrel, with only those showing extraordinary depth, balance and character selected for My Hands. The wine was matured for 20 months in 300-litre French oak hogsheads before bottling.

The 2019 vintage marked the 20th vintage for Two Hands Wines and delivered low yields, small berries and fruit of remarkable concentration following a challenging Barossa growing season.

Only 768 bottles of 2019 My Hands Shiraz were produced. This rare Australian Shiraz represents an uncompromising selection from one of Two Hands Wines’ most celebrated estate vineyards and is released only when the vintage produces wine worthy of the My Hands name.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Deep dark black core with red rim to the glass

AROMA | Continually evolving and complex. Deep black berry fruits, vanilla, lifted floral notes and licorice spice with cedar/mint and graphite tones.

PALATE | Like the aromas, the palate is extremely complex and intriguing. Blackberries, chocolate and spice with subtle cedar flavours. The palate is very long and fleshy with balanced graphite notes and fine tannins.

The Growing Season

Vintage 2019 was a challenging yet ultimately rewarding year for Barossa Shiraz, producing low yields and fruit of exceptional concentration and intensity. A dry winter and spring were followed by frost events across parts of the Barossa, while summer brought extreme heat, including South Australia’s hottest recorded day at 47°C. Despite these demanding conditions, careful vineyard management maintained vine and fruit health. A run of warm days in late February rapidly accelerated ripening, with blocks moving quickly into their ideal picking windows and requiring precise harvest decisions. Yields were significantly reduced and berries were smaller than usual, resulting in concentrated flavours, deep colour and powerful structure. In the winery, careful extraction and pressing were essential to maintain balance and avoid excessive tannin. While 2019 demanded close attention throughout both vineyard and winery, the finest parcels delivered remarkable quality, producing deeply concentrated, structured Barossa Shiraz with intensity, balance and excellent ageing potential.

Vinification

Parcels from the Holy Grail vineyard were crushed and de-stemmed into open top fermenters with regular pump overs, up to three times daily, during peak fermentation to extract colour and tannin, on skins for 23 days. All free run and pressings were combined in tank and then racked to oak after 24 hours to go through malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled with minimal fining and no filtration.
