REGION | Vinegrove Road, Greenock, Barossa Valley

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Dark purple in colour.

AROMA | A powerful bouquet of tar, leather, warm earth, clove, roasted meats, menthol and fresh plums.

PALATE | The palate is concentrated and coating and starts out really blowing its trumpet but its
effervescent character is reigned in on the transition from mid to late palate. The texture takes over and you’re left with a bed of ripe fruits and rich and
powerful tannins that finish clean with no hard edges. This is a more dark fruited and more traditional style of the warm/darker Grenache which holds its power band well.

The Growing Season

The 2021 vintage was exceptional, with near-perfect weather and growing conditions across all regions. Early winter rains, a mild summer, and well-timed February showers supported even ripening and ideal harvest timing. Vine growth was strong, with balanced crop loads and smaller berries offering intense flavor at lower alcohol levels. Quality was consistent across vineyards, notably at Holy Grail and Branson Coach House. A standout Shiraz block from 1891 Wendouree vines inspired a special bottling, Cleo’s Block. The resulting wines are harmonious, balanced, and full of energy—marking 2021 as a truly outstanding and memorable vintage.
