Two Hands The Odd Couple Pinot Noir is a single vineyard Tasmanian Pinot Noir from Middle Tea Tree in the Coal River Valley. This wine brings together precision, friendship and a shared love of great Pinot, crafted from a steep north-facing site planted in 2005 to 75% 777 clone and 25% MV6 clone.
The Odd Couple are David Lloyd and Michael Twelftree: David, the science boffin, tennis tragic, Tesla driver and vintaged winemaker; Michael, the brand builder, Toyota driver, amateur cray fisherman and thoroughbred lover. Both are passionate dog lovers and, most importantly, the dearest of friends for more than 30 years.
Grown on brown dermosol soil over Jurassic dolerite, with Guyot trellising and a vine density of 4,200 vines per hectare, this Pinot Noir reflects the cool-climate elegance and savoury detail of Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Picked on 7 April 2022, it offers red fruits, spice, fine tannin and a poised, expressive palate shaped by site, season and friendship.
