Two Hands 2025 The Boy Riesling is a pure and expressive Eden Valley Riesling, sourced from a remarkable 108-year-old dry grown vineyard to the east on Mengler’s Hill. Perched high above the valley, this special site produces Riesling with exotic aromatics, natural acidity and striking intensity.

The Boy captures the thrill of discovery. You walk and walk, searching for something truly special, until finally you find a place that stops you in your tracks. Old Riesling vines, planted more than a century ago, sit high in the Eden Valley and deliver fruit with concentration, energy and a character that feels unmistakably rare.

In the glass, The Boy Riesling offers lifted citrus, lime, florals, spice and mineral detail, carried by a fine, precise palate and a long, refreshing finish. Vibrant, aromatic and beautifully balanced, this is classic Eden Valley Riesling with depth, purity and a genuine sense of its place.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | The Boy presents in the glass pale straw in colour with a glimmer of green at the rim.

AROMA | Its vibrant bouquet features a complex nose of lychee flesh, fresh cut musk stick, and passionfruit, all wrapped in a lifted citrus bloom.

PALATE | The palate is electric, grapefruit zest and white nectarine rush across the tongue in a straight, pure line. Grapefruit, green papaya, and a fine mineral dusting that lengthens the finish. The mid-palate has a silken glide, before tightening into a mouth-watering close that begs for another sip. This vintage has delivered a Riesling of precision, freshness, and that quiet power our site consistently reveals. Will drink brilliantly young, but will evolve gracefully.

The Growing Season

The 2025 season in Eden Valley was shaped by a mild, even spring and a beautifully timed pattern of early spring rainfall that set the vines up with balanced canopies and excellent soil moisture. Flowering occurred under calm conditions with no major heat spikes, leading to clean bunch formation and good natural acidity.Summer tracked cooler than average, with long daylight hours and cool evenings, ideal for retaining the delicate aromatics that define Riesling. The region avoided the extremes that can rush ripening; instead, we experienced a slow, steady accumulation of flavour, with sugars rising gently and acids holding firm. Harvest arrived later than the previous few vintages, with fruit coming in bright, pristine, and highly perfumed. The combination of mild days and cold nights delivered fruit with vibrancy, aromatic clarity, and that distinctive Eden Valley line of citrus-minerality.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | The fruit was hand-picked. No acid added, amazing natural acidity and low pH. The fruit was crushed and the free run was taken with the pressing going elsewhere. The juice was cold settled before inoculation – no lees. Cool and slow fermentation period where it was closely monitored. Wine was fined and filtered before bottling.

MATURATION | Matured for 3 months in stainless steel. The wine was bottled in July, fresh and bright.

"Pale with a flash of green and bright aromas of fresh lime juice, grapefruit and green apple fruits, hints of Christmas lily, makrut lime, lemongrass, white flowers and green apple sorbet. Keenly focused with a slide of grapefruit pith and lemon zest joining in on the palate. The finish is bone dry, crisply refreshing and travels a precise line."
