Gnarly Dudes, an unctuous yet classic Barossa Valley Shiraz.

“I’m the Dude, so that’s what you call me. That or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.”
- The Dude, The Big Lebowski

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Deep, strong black in colour.

AROMA |
The aromatics are intense red berry fruits & liquorice on the nose. A tight bouquet slowly emerges with notes of cedar, cola, blackberry, mint and blood plum

PALATE | A generous volume of rich fruit envelops your palate, offering a deep, layered, and lingering experience. These flavours carry through onto the palate, where balanced ripe tannins contribute
to a rich, rounded, and supple texture. The evolving fruit notes lead to a finish with persistent fruit, delivering immediate enjoyment. This is quintessential Barossa, with tannins that possess a plushness, nerve, and energy, making it a richly rewarding experience.

The Growing Season

The 2023 vintage was marked by challenges from the outset, with a wet, humid winter creating high disease pressure. A cold, wet November stalled vine growth for weeks, delaying ripening. Once warmer weather arrived, vine growth surged, requiring careful canopy management. A cooler, slower ripening season followed, with yields reduced to match the conditions. Harvest began in late March in McLaren Vale and early April in the Barossa Valley, with picking decisions critical due to uneven ripening. Despite frustrations, the vintage ended on May 2—Two Hands’ latest ever. The resulting wines are of high, consistent quality, reflecting expert management and winemaking.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | The parcels of fruit were crushed into and fermented in 3, 5, 7 and 10 tonne open top vessels. Regular pump overs three times daily were performed during the peak of fermentation. At pressing, the free run and pressings were combined to tank, then racked to barrel for oak maturation.

MATURATION | 12 months in a mix of French oak hogsheads and puncheons with 10-15% new oak.
