The 2019 Lucky Duck Sparkling is a refined expression of the cool-climate Adelaide Hills, sourced from the Quigley vineyard in Piccadilly Valley, crafted in the traditional method from 100% Pinot Noir.

A sophisticated sparkling wine that showcases both precision and generosity, the 2019 Lucky Duck is equally suited to celebration or contemplation. Enjoy it alongside oysters, sushi, or triple-cream cheese.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR | Pale straw in colour. Persistent mousse with a fine bead.

AROMA | Aromas of green apple, lemon, and white peach are layered with delicate notes of brioche, almond, and a hint of salinity, reflecting its extended lees aging and mineral-driven terroir.

PALATE | The wine is crisp and lively, yet shows a graceful roundness. Bright citrus and orchard fruit flavours are balanced by a refined acidity and a subtle autolytic character. The mousse is creamy yet precise, giving way to a long, clean finish with lingering notes of lemon zest and hazelnut.

The Growing Season

The 2019 growing season in the Adelaide Hills was excellent for Pinot Noir, marked by a mild summer, a cool autumn, and low rainfall, which resulted in small crops with clean fruit, good acidity, and intense flavour concentration. Despite initial cool conditions at flowering, which lowered yields, the overall vintage is described as outstanding, with high-quality fruit developing ripe flavors, good colour, and excellent acid retention.

Vinification

WINEMAKING | Individually pressed parcels of Pinot Noir, fermented and then aged in older oak barrels on lees for six months prior to tirage.

MATURATION |
Matured for 5 years on lees in the bottle. Made in an Extra Brut Style with 6g/l dosage.
