2016 Heartbreak Hill – White Hut, Clare Valley Shiraz
Heartbreak Hill comes from a vineyard off the beaten track in tough growing country, high up in the north eastern corner of the Clare Valley region.
Made in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017, the vineyard always ripened early despite its elevation. Displaying the elegance and lively aromatics of Clare, with a powerful accent and mineral tannins. At the top of this steep hill, stands a proud Australian flag raised on the flagpole, which adorns the Heartbreak Hill label. MT knew this site offered something very special from the moment he was first shown the vineyard and needed to secure this fruit. Grower and friends the Hughes family didn’t make it easy for him though, with negotiations going back and forth over a few years, hence its namesake.

2004 BcH Rare Shiraz (Branson Coach House) – Greenock, Barossa Valley Shiraz
Did you miss out on this rare museum release earlier this year? This twenty year old Greenock Shiraz is showing wonderful developed characters and is ready to drink.
The vineyard is located to the south of the township of Greenock in the western Barossa Valley. The Branson Vineyard was planted in 1990 to shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Grown on the fabled deep red clay soil that dominates the area, a key element in the unique terroir of this small pocket of the Barossa Valley.
This 2004 Shiraz was the precursor to what would become the Single Vineyard Coach House Shiraz. Made by our OG Chief Wine Maker Matt Wenk this single vineyard wine is a limited and rare release.
